I followed the recipe from the "Woman's Home Companion Cook Book" using butter instead of shortening. They were great with honey, husband had them with egg and cheese.

  1. I have started usin butter in place of shortening wherever its called for, it has worked every time and, in my opinion, improves the flavor in some biscuits.

    I really don't know why shortenin was created and why its called for over butter sometimes though.
